Upgrade ordering is the ability to have a client's searches upgraded from one search type to another. Typically this is most commonly used to upgrade a County Criminal search to a Statewide search. In this instance, the statewide criminal search type does not need to be included in the package. If upgrade ordering is setup, the county criminal search will automatically upgrade to a statewide criminal search.

Upgrade ordering can be set at the Global, Client Type and Client levels. The ability to set upgrade ordering at different client levels can ensure that clients to not have to share the same Upgrade Ordering options.

Setting Upgrade Ordering at the Global Level

To enable this at the global level go to System Settings>Upgrade Ordering

Setting at the Client Type Level

Upgrade Ordering can be set at the Client Type level by going to the Client Type editor and selecting Ordering Options:

Next, select the click here option to create Upgrade Ordering settings for this client type.

Setting at the Client Level

Upgrade Ordering can be set at the individual Client level by going to the Client editor and selecting Ordering Options:

After selecting the click here option, the client will have it's own upgrade ordering profile created.

Upgrade Ordering Configuration

In the upgrade ordering configuration, you can set which state and then counties to upgrade, or you can simply select all counties, which is most common. For Upgrade Fee enter "0", this field is deprecated and no longer used. The "upgrade fee" will simply be whatever the upgraded search's price and fee are set to.

Note - Upgrade ordering fees are only applied when the order is placed via the admin module. Orders placed from the HR module apply the fee from the researcher network, but do not apply the upgrade ordering fee.

Enable Upgrade Ordering

Once configured, the Upgrade setting must also be enabled at the Client or Client Type level. This setting is found in the Ordering Options section:

A client can be removed from upgrade ordering by unchecking this box and clicking save.

When a county criminal for a jurisdiction configured for upgrading is ordered, the system will notify the user that the search will be upgraded to a statewide, and the system will remove the county criminal search from the order and replace it with the statewide search.

*NOTE* Upgrade ordering fees will only be applied to admin orders. Orders placed by the HR user/client will only apply the fee from the researcher network .

Upgrade Ordering Configuration

This feature will allow admin users the ability to bypass upgrade ordering rules in the system for admin based orders.
