December 16, 2021 - Update to SHM Error Handling

This week deverus is releasing an update to improve Swifthire Mobile's error handling for API orders (Without Review, Applicant Pay, and Integration Manager). If an error occurs during the SHM process, the applicant will now see an error message that a technical error occurred, rather than getting stuck on a 'spinning' screen. In addition, the applicant will be able to try again using the same Swifthire link without encountering a duplicate detection error. Duplicate detection will still work to catch successful duplicate orders. Please read on for more important information about this update.

If an error occurs during the ordering process -

  • The applicant will see a message 'A technical error has occurred. Please try again.'

  • A report will be created but all searches are canceled. The report will contain a note in the activity log - ‘This report has been canceled due to an ordering error.’

  • The applicant will not receive any texts or emails that the report was created or canceled.

  • The HR user will not receive a Swifthire notification (if set in Swifthire settings).

  • In the HR module, the Swifthire request will remain in ‘Waiting’ status.

    • The HR user can launch the link from there and complete it again using the same info.

    • Or if it’s an emailed invitation, the link in the email will still work for the applicant.

    • Global links can also be completed again without receiving a duplicate detection error.

  • If an ‘Order Confirm’ email exists, the HR user will be notified a report was created for the applicant. When the user clicks the link to view the report, they will see a message in the HR portal ‘All searches in this report have been cancelled.’

  • If the failed order contains Swift Reference, no texts or emails will go to the referee.

  • If the failed order contains a Labcorp Direct drug test, a registration will not be created and the applicant will not receive a scheduling email.

  • The applicant will not receive a text or email invitation for the Applicant Portal on failed orders.

  • Canceled reports will not incur the $1 SHM fee from deverus to the CRA.

Successful Orders

  • Applicant Pay orders WITHOUT successful payment will no longer send out the ‘Background Checks Forms and Reports’ Applicant Portal emails and texts.

    • If the CRA processes payment manually and removes the hold on the report, the reusable generic Applicant Portal link can be sent to the applicant.

    • If any SwiftDocs searches are added to the report, the applicant will receive the ‘Background Check Forms and Reports’ email and text.

    • When the report is complete, the ‘Background Check Process is Complete’ Applicant Portal email/text will go out.

  • The rest of the Swifthire process for API orders will be the same.

SHM with review will not be impacted by this update.
