Employment Gap Feature Overview

The employment gap feature is used to obtain two types of data during the Swifthire Mobile process:

1. Minimum number of years of the applicant's employment history

2. An explanation as to why there is a 1-month or greater gap in the applicant's employment history

This feature provides a method for the applicant to add supplemental information to explain gaps in employment history. This can result in reduced research time for the CRA and/or the Researcher. Note: This feature is only available for Swifthire Mobile, not Swifthire 1.0 (Legacy).

When the system detects a 1 month or longer gap in employment, it will prompt the applicant to provide an explanation. This data is collected as a supplemental search and a researcher in the CRA's system can review, edit, or just send the data to be included on the final report for the client.

Setup and Configuration

This feature can be enabled at the Client Type level or the Client level. Note: The client settings will override the client level settings if both are included.

  • Enable the Employment Gap search type at the Client Type level: Sales > Client types > select client type > Search Options > check the 'Employment Gap'

  • Enable the Gap Detection feature in the Swifthire settings at Client Type or Client level:

    • Client Type level: Sales > Client Types > select client type > Swifthire Settings update radio button to On for 'Check for gaps in employment history'

    • Client level: Clients > select Client > SwiftHire Settings update radio button to On for 'Check for gaps in employment history'

  • Set the minimum number of years of employment history required in Swifthire Settings

  • Make sure a researcher is assigned and configured for both the Employment Verification search and the Employment Gap search in the Researcher Network:

    • Researcher > Researcher Network > Employment Verification Network

    • Researcher > Researcher Network > Employment Gap Network

Before you create your Swifthire order, let's check the package settings. Navigate to Sales>Client Type > select client type > Package Options select package. Make sure that at least one Employment Verification search is included in the package. However, do not include an Employment Gap search. Leave this value as 0.

*NOTE* The Ordering Option: Enforce a required number of verifications in Swifthire, will prevent the Gap feature from triggering. Please make sure this Ordering Option is unchecked.

Ordering and Results

Now that the settings have been configured for Swifthire Employment Gap processing, a Swifthire request can be generated to begin the process. Do not add an employment gap search to the package. It will be included automatically if a gap in employment history greater than one month is detected, according to the previous configuration steps.

For each employment gap created from the Swifthire, a separate search/ report is created for the Researcher to enter results. The reason entered by the applicant will not appear on the report, but will instead show as a researcher instruction in your Admin view.

The results format uses the Report-style format, which is simply a box for entering text. The text entered here will show on the final report. Once results have been entered into the Results form and submitted, the search status will change to Complete.
