Release Notes April 16, 2026: Compliance Update for New York Employment Credit Reports

Written by Sydney Harper

What's New

Credit report searches for New York consumers will now automatically route to Hold status before being submitted for processing.

This update supports new compliance requirements for employment-related credit reports involving New York consumers, effective April 18, 2026.

Key Updates

New York credit report searches will be placed on Hold before being sent for processing. This creates an additional review step before the search is released. CRAs may need to obtain or confirm supporting documentation from their client before the search can proceed. If the required documentation or certification is not provided, the credit report search may not be submitted.

Impact

No configuration changes are needed.

CRAs should expect applicable New York credit report searches to remain in Hold status until the required review is completed. This may impact turnaround time depending on how quickly the necessary confirmation or documentation is received.

CRAs should work with their clients to confirm that each New York employment credit report request meets an applicable permissible purpose before the search is released for processing.

Additional Updates Based on Feedback

We have added a notification feature so that, when a credit report search is ordered for a New York applicant and goes on hold, your Information Resource Management Department (IRM) will be notified via email.
