Instant MVR or Batch
Driving records ran through Samba are either instant or batch (non-instant). With batch states the inquiry goes out to Samba, which in turn contact the states and wait for results. When results are returned these are updated and sent back through the system. At times this process can can range from 2-10 days. These are the states listed as non-instant: OR,HI,LB,AK,SK,NL,PR,NT,ON
SambaSafety - Outage Notifications
For any delayed MVRs assigned to Samba, check the status of the appropriate jurisdiction to see if there is an outage for that state: https://status.sambasafety.com/ (Service status is refreshed every 20 minutes on this page.)
If there is no outage, you can try resubmitting the MVR back to Samba again. If problems persist, please submit a deverus Support ticket.
SambaSafety offers automatic notification of MVR state service interruption/restoration of service. To receive these notifications, send a request to [email protected].
Formats for MVR License Numbers

SambaSafety - Changes to the Pennsylvania MVR Ordering Process
What’s changing in deverus?
We have added a new field to the client editor page in Additional Settings that will need to be updated with your customers’ access code.
Please note that the PennDOT customer access code must be obtained by the HR client by submitting the form provided on the Samba Safety Website. Customers should submit all completed Affidavits to SambaSafety (a scanned PDF via email is acceptable sent to Customer Care at [email protected]). SambaSafety - Changes to the Utah MVR Ordering Process
What’s changing in Utah MVR Ordering Process?
By now you have probably received communication from SambaSafety regarding changes to the MVR Orderings Process for Utah DVM. We wanted to clarify these instructions as they apply to your deverus integration. Each deverus client (the Resellers) will need to register for their own Utah ORG ID. Each of your customers will also need to register for their own Utah ORG ID. A full outline of the process changes is provided for you below.
The attached PDF includes the steps to follow to register for the Utah ORG ID. Do Not follow the steps under Once Approved. Update your credentials in deverus instead (the Utah Web service ID field for the CRA and the Utah End User ID for your customers).
What’s changing in deverus?
On the Softech Researcher page, under your Samba credentials, we will add a field for you to update with your Utah ORG ID.
We will also be adding a field to the client editor page in Additional Settings that needs to be updated with your customers’ ORG IDs. These fields will be added the night of January 18, 2017.
If you have any questions about this process, please enter a support ticket. All registrations and updates to deverus must be completed by January 31, 2017.
New MVR Ordering Procedures for Utah DMV
The Utah (UT) Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is releasing a new MVR and Driver Monitoring Service. The new service ensures proper MVR compliance for all vendors, sub-vendors and customers; as well as offer enhancements such as Medical Certification support for employers. As a part of the transition to the service, Utah DMV requires all vendors (e.g. SambaSafety) and their perspective customers to register for a Utah Organization Identification Number or ORG ID and to select their desired Vendor.
The new MVR services are now available to anyone who has registered and provisioned the UT Organization ID. Utah Driver Monitoring Service for DRM will be available starting December 2017.
Attached are the Utah_SS_SubVendor_Instructions.
The instructions will guide you through the registration process. The registration process must be completed by all customers and sub-vendors (resellers) and sub-vendor's respective customers to utilize the UT MVR service.
During this process, you will be asked to select a vendor and provide a Vendor ID.
SambaSafety's Vendor ID # is TJ0GINEBJC
Important: Resellers (selling to multiple accounts) ordering through SambaSafety APIs will need to modify their order request to meet guidelines mandated by the Utah DMV.
All registrations should be completed by January 31, 2017.

Samba MVR Chistory Order Selection
What is Chistory?
Samba offers different MVR products by state. Some states have multiple MVR products to order and others do not. The ability to choose which MVR product to order for that state is determined by a value called Chistory. Chistory does not relate directly to the number of years an MVR will pull from but instead will define the MVR search product that Samba will provide. A list of Chistory values for each state, and what each value represents can be found as a PDF attached to this article.
Why is this Important?
The ability to order different MVR products in a single state is important because CRAs can set different Fees for each Chistory value.
CRAs can also configure clients to have the ability to select their own Chistory value during ordering or even, set exceptions to default specific Chistory values for others.
Default and Exception Chistory
Each state has a default Chistory already pre-set. In most cases, you will not change these. When needed, you, as a CRA, can set exceptions for specific Client/Client types in the researcher network by state.
With this, you can set a Client/Client type to only order a specific Chistory value. To change a default, you would choose a client/client type and then pick a different Chistory default from the drop-down. The client/client type will then be listed below with their default Chistory.
Fees and Label
The Chistory and Record type Fees will be applied to any customers who have MVR fees turned on in pricing. You may also add a custom label to the fee to appear on the invoice.
Allowing Clients to Choose their Own Chistory or Record Type (Years)
The setting to control a clients ability to choose their own Chistory can be found under the Ordering Options for Client ( or Client Type ). Example below:
With the ordering option of 'allow clients to choose the Chistory during time of order' enabled, the HR user is presented with a dropdown menu to select a Chistory value. If the Ordering option to choose Chistory is disabled, HR users will not see the dropdown menu.
Example below:
Additional MVR Fee Option
You can also set a normal state fee for an MVR by using the 'Additional fee to charge clients.' The Additional Fee will only be applied when the client or client type does NOT have an exception and the option to choose Chistory is NOT enabled.
*NOTE* If there is an exception and 'allow client to choose chistory' is NOT enabled for the Client or Client type, the higher amount for the 'additional' fee chistory is not charged. The client will be charged the fee that corresponds to the chistory being ordered, whether the value was placed by an exception or the drop-down chistory selection. The Additional Fee will only be applied is when the client or client type does NOT have an exception and the option to choose Chistory is NOT enabled.
The Additional Fee or Fee to Charge for Chistory are reliant on the client or client type pricing option to pass over MVR fees. To use these fees, you must navigate to pricing>edit pricing and "Apply Motor Vehicle Reports Fee" to package and non-packaged reports (these are 2 separate options).
DMV Final Search Price Summary
There are several components that contribute to the final price of an MVR search.
The MVR search price itself.
If a Special STATE/COUNTY Pricing amount for that state is present, that value will supersede the MVR search price. This value will also override the setting to add the MVR fee to non-packaged reports. This setting is highlighted below.
The value for the Chistory fee or Additional fee will be factored into the final search price. The additional fee will only be used when there are exceptions or the ordering option is disabled to select the Chistory.
Client/Client type ordering option to choose Chistory is selected.
For package and non-package orders, the setting to 'Apply Driving History Report' fees needs to be checked.
The client has the feature enabled to Apply or not Apply Court Fees under the Special STATE Pricing. This value will also override the setting to add the MVR fee to packaged or non-packaged reports.
Understanding Special STATE/COUNTY Pricing and Specials State Prices
MVR's currently do not have a way of creating an associated state fee, but you can special price per state. When setting up the special state price for MVR's activating the check box for court fees does not activate any extra fees. Court fees only apply to County Criminal or Civil searches.
The MVR state special pricing can be done at both the client and client type levels. Both of which can be accessed by pulling up the pricing section and updating the 'Add a Special State Price' section. This pricing will carry over to clients if you override pricing at the client level as well as can be copied when creating new client types (this is listed as an option when creating a new client type).
*For MVR orders that are not part of a package, there is an additional Special STATE/COUNTY Pricing setting to control if the MVR Fees will be added to the final MVR report price.
If left unchecked, non-packaged reports that contain an MVR search will not have any fees added. The MVR price will only be the base search price.**
IMPORTANT NOTE:This setting will be overridden if there is a Special STATE/COUNTY Pricing saved for that respective state. Detailed below.
It is important to note that any settings in the Specials State Prices will override the setting to apply fees to non-packaged reports. Please see below:
Understanding Special Package Pricing
Similar to the Special STATE/COUNTY Pricing setting, there is another Pricing setting called Special Package Pricing.
If left unchecked, packaged reports that contain an MVR search will not have any fees added.
